Search Engine Optimization is a Great Investment for Small Marketing Budgets

I want to discuss an article I recently saw on Accountingweb.com. I am here to tell you why I believe search engine optimization is still a great investment, even for those with small marketing budgets. I would also like to share some information with you about tasks you can perform on your own that can have a positive impact on your website’s organic search engine position.

The first thing to realize about search engine optimization is that it can be performed both on your page or website and off your website. This is known as on page and off page SEO. On page SEO and social SEO can be accomplished for free, provided you’re willing to invest your time. Off page SEO usually refers to acquiring back links which you can also do yourself and for little cost, provided again, that you know where to go to get back links. By this rationale you can perform your own SEO without it having to cost a lot of money!

Good search engine optimization is absolutely the best use of your marketing budget because it should produce the best long term return on your investment. You can always pay for advertising to get quick wins or analyze visitor user experience and how people interact with your website. This data is important for refining and modifying your website for conversions but this doesn’t lessen the need for SEO.

Some people still call SEOs snake oil salesmen and for good reason. The honest truth is there are a lot of people out there who act like they know SEO and could be looking to rip you off. Welcome to the real world. People like this give SEO a bad name but another unfortunate truth is that you can find con artists in just about every industry out there.

I want to make it clear that there are no technical, new or unheard of tricks that is going to net you hundreds or thousands of visitors per day. If you’re just looking for a bragging rights number then you can go buy traffic here and begin receiving traffic within 24 hours. It’s important to note that receiving traffic doesn’t guarantee anything except a number on a visitor counter.

If I’m being brutally honest here then I should tell you there are NO guarantees in internet marketing, websites or online sales. Don’t fall victim to the delusion that you are guaranteed anything when it comes to online marketing or life. We, and I mean none of us, are guaranteed anything! The only things guaranteed in this life are death and taxes, period!

Search engine optimization is valuable to every business that’s trying to make a name for themselves online. There’s no way around it. If you think that you’re going to rank your website solely on the content you write or solely on social signals then you are seriously mistaken! Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not encouraging anyone to rely solely on SEO as their only marketing strategy. What I am saying is that you would be foolish not to include SEO as a large piece of your overall marketing strategy. Once again, you should never rely on just one single marketing avenue or method. Internet marketing is a puzzle comprised of many different pieces.
